Unintended extended absence

Hmm, seems like blogging is turning into a once a month event. I was preparing to leave on a trip and I wasn't planning on being gone for so long but I kind of got stuck. I went to the motherland for what was supposed to be 10 days but turned into 16 days. The time off was good and seeing family I haven't seen in 12 years was even better.

Greetings from Thailand..

And would you believe, I even got in quite a bit of knitting.

No updates or progress photos just yet. But for now, dig into some crafty eye candy, especially for Carla, my aunts sewing machines.

And an old school iron on display at a tailor shop. You put hot coals inside it.

And my only regret from the trip.. Not buying this cake stand.

whoa. you need to go back for that cake stand.

Great pics from your trip! More please!

Oh, yes, you MUST go back for the cake stand! Love the sewing machine pictures. We have my grandmother's treadle machine and some very old electrics as well. I love them dearly.

Were you caught up in the airport closure? I love the pictures from the trip, and am intrigued to know, are you knitting with Thai silk yarn? I have looked for it in Bangkok without success to date.

welcome back! i'd totally love to see more photos from your trip! i'm sure you had a fantastic time!

welcome back! glad you made it home safely. those sewing machines are seriously cool!

Welcome back!!! Glad you had a great trip & got to reconnect with your family! Your pictures are awesome, I feel like I was there

I'm glad you had such a great trip. Welcome back! (Can you ask someone to send that cake stand to you?)

that was a long trip! glad you're back safe and sound :) that cake stand is the bomb! have someone send it to you!

"Super! Automatic! Zigzag!" Love it.

Love this post! I remember seeing irons like that (in use) in India. They seem so heavy, hot, burdensome. But they sure work well, eh? Beautiful pictures. I'm sorry you didn't get the beautiful cakestand!

Should have bought the cake stand! : )

your pictures are beautiful!!

Oh thank you, thank you! You KNOW I'm loving the sewing machines. And it looks like your aunt actually uses them. Good woman. :)

I'm glad you had a good trip. We missed you!

Those are the coolest photos of sewing machines. They (and the iron) remind me of India.
