The photo shoot didn't go so well this weekend. I really hate taking photos of myself. At times like this I wish I had a model to wear my clothes for me so I can take the photos just the way I like! Having B taking photos for me just doesn't work. Lolly, Parikha and I had this conversation during out meet up, not about B, but about how having our significant others take our photos for us. I either 1. feel really bad about bossing them around, 2. feel really bad that I make them take 495028348 photos of the same thing, or 3. get really frustrated that he doesn't understand how I want him to set up the shot. And then he 1. gets really frustrated that I'm bossing him around, 2. gets really frustrated that I'm making him take 495028348 photos of the same thing, or 3. gets really frustrated because he doesn't understand what I'm explaining him to take a photo of.
So for now, you get the best photos I took all weekend. The shoes I wore with my outfits.

And yes, I tried the dress form shots. It's just not the same. I'll try again this week.

i agree, that a modeled shot is so different from a shot on a dress form. but since my BF and i broke up, who will take my photos for me!? self-portraits do not do a handknit justice...

I also feel really bad asking Hubby to take a zillion shots of me. I bought a tripod and a camera remote just so I could take some of them myself. It takes some experimenting but sometimes I find it fun to use the tripod and remote!

So very, very with you about the partner-photos. I wish I could get my tripod and delay-shot system working properly. I'm sure that'd solve all sorts of issues.

Oh, I know exactly what you mean! It is so frustrating to impart someone of your "vision". I must admit that I've had better luck using my gorilla pod and self-timer... Oops, did I say that out loud?

I have a solution! I think...
Get the SO to take one decent "all together now" shot - from afar, you know. And then have *him* hold the item in question - dress, scarf, whatever - as you take the close-ups! No one will ever know if it's you wearing the scarf, or him!
Clearly I was wearing a burgundy top in this photo shoot http://www.grumperina.com/knitblog/archives/2007/03/i_have_reached.htm. Whose blue sweater do you think served as the background in some of the more abstract shots???

I know what you mean. My technique is to hand the camera to Rob, let him just randomly take photos for 10 min. with instructions to not cut off my head, and then I just post whatever one is best. Often they don't really do a project justice and they definitely aren't perfect but it's good enough for me.

I'm totally with you on the photoshoot thing. Just thinking about it is making me a little edgy.

I haven't had a significant FO to photograph since I got my new camera remote... but I think that might be the key. I guess I have to finish something in order to try it...

How about I move to your neighborhood....then I can take pics of you whenever you want. Oh, and then I could also taste test your baked goods...mmmh

I so feel your pain about the photo taking! Which is why my face isn't in photos anymore - I kept making him taking more and more photos because I hated the way I was smiling. But nice shoes!

They are cute! I know what you mean. I think this is why I prefer to knit for others. That way I can take the pictures and be the one bossing the models around. :)
