New York, North Kakalaka and...*

Greetings from Charlotte, North Carolina! I'm on my very first "business trip" attending a conference for work. I love traveling but this traveling alone business is pretty new to me. While I do have other coworkers here with me, we all have our own rooms. And for the first time ever, I'm in a hotel room all to myself. It's so weird!

Big ol' bed all to myself.
Hello, big ol' bed! I have no one to share you with.

So I've got this gigantor King sized bed, an insane bathroom with fancy faucet and square basin, a flat screen tv and wifi of course. The time I spend in my room is really kind of lonely. I checked in yesterday and kicked around a bit, flipped the channels on tv and versus had my favorite wintersport on!

My faaaaavorite wintersport!
Boardercross, how I *heart* thee.
Did I ever tell you I secretly want to be a professional snowboarder?

But have no fear, this trip will definitely be a productive one. I brought knitting with me, yes I did. And yes, the puff-sleeved cardi will be done by the time I get home except for blocking and buttons. The sweater will actually be done tonight. Is it worth it to start the blocking process now? I could do a dunk and rinse, though, dammit, I have no wool wash with me. Okay scratch that idea. I'll wash and block at home. It was a good time saving thought though. I do have shampoo, but don't want to risk felting it as I'm rinsing it.

16 // 30: My first "business" trip
How fluorescent you look, oh sweater of mine.

So despite the lack of a traveling companion, I'm doing just fine. I even brought my Hanami Stole with me! So there will be craft action in my down time. So thanks everyone for all your music suggestions. I'll definitely look into all of them. So in the meantime, I'll continue to plug away on the cardi. I'll be back home Wednesday afternoon with an almost FO and hopefully some updated SWAP news for you!

It's just me

*Because I'm feeling extra generous and because I didn't get to bake this weekend (I'm feenin'!), if you can identify the song, the artist, and complete the line of the song that the title of the post comes from, you'll get some sweet treats, too! Send an email to yaiAnnknits [at] gmail [dot] com with your answer. Answers left in the comments will not be accepted (why, because you could cheat! -- not that you would. I just want to keep it fair). Same as the workout music winner, deadline is Thursday, 11:59pm PST and I'll do a drawing of all the correct answers to determine the winner.

Hmmmm a contest eh? LOL I have some fabric the color of your sweater!

i've never been in a hotel room by myself overnight... it must be lonely! i know the lyric to your song but i can't remember who the artist is... must... try... to... remember!

When I went to Chicago for work last August and stayed in a huge spacious room I had no idea what to do with myself. I have come to realize that I do not like traveling for work as much as I used to!

i'm glad to see i'm not the only one who didn't know what to do with a hotel room to myself. my job is putting me up in one for about six weeks. i'm in week three now, and it's still wierd. what are you supposed to do there? any ideas?

Haven't a clue. Have a good trip!

If you have time during your stay in Charlotte, you could visit Charlotte Yarn (charlotteyarn.com) It's in the Myers Park Area. Terrific inventory.

brava on the fluourescent puff-sleeve cardi! maybe you and i will finish our flourescent glampyre knits around the same time. we'll have to have another meetup to photograph them together :).
